hands over Zakat (Tithe) Payments

The handing over of Zakat (Tithe) ceremony was held between
Perbadanan TAIB and the Majlis Ugama Islam
Brunei (MUIB) at the Ministry of Religious
Affairs Building in Jalan Menteri Besar.
The savings account Zakat (tithe) collected was
for the month form January to June 2009/ 1430H
which amounts to BND1,678,452.33. It was
presented by YM Dato Paduka Dr Haji Mat Suny bin
Haji Mohd Hussein, the Deputy Minister of
Development as the Chairman of the Board of
Directors of Perbadanan TAIB and received by
Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka
Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin
Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Deputy
Minister of Religious Affairs. (TBC)
Also present at the ceremony was Yang Mulia
Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman bin Pengiran Haji Mat
Salleh. TAIB’s Acting Managing Director of TAIB
and Yang Mulia Awang Haji Harun bin Haji Junid,
Secretary Majlis Ugama Islam Brunei. (TBC)
The savings account Zakat (tithe) also known as
‘Zakat Wang Simpanan/Harta’ is contributed once
a customer’s saving reaches a minimum ‘nisab’ or
more. To date the minimum ‘nisab’ a customer is
obliged to pay their ‘Zakat Wang Simpanan’ is at
BND$ 4,335.00, as notified by the Majlis Ugama
Islam Brunei.
Perbadanan TAIB also offers its customers the
convenience for the payment of their ‘Zakat Wang
Simpanan’ either by auto or manual payments with
the assistance of the computer generated methods
installed. Payments could be made at anytime
during the year either through the counters, via
TAIB ATM machines or deducted automatically from
customer’s registered accounts.
